Never too old to play: Elderlympics slated in December

October 21, 2016 By

Senior citizens in Davao City will once again show that they are still physically and mentally fit and can still do it.

This coming December, hundreds of elderlies in the city will gather for the 15th Elderlympics to show off, compete against each other, and have fun among themselves.

The theme this year is “Palaro ng Nakatatanda para sa Pambansang Pagbabago 2016.”

City Sports and Development Office (CSDO) Chief Michael Aportadera said the sports competitions will not “be too much for the senior citizens.”

“Rest assured that their health will be our major concern while they are competing and having fun,” he said.

Doctors from the Southern Philippine Medical Center will also be on standby during the entire event.

The ‘elderlympians’ will be thoroughly checked before and after the games. If they are unfit to play, they will not be allowed to join, according to Aportadera.

Last year, the entire event lasted for a week. CIO
