Fight for your freedom – Mayor Inday

June 13, 2017 By

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Monday rallied Dabawenyos to defend their freedom against all that could threaten it, such as terrorism.

Speaking during the observance of the 119th Independence Day here, Mayor Inday said aside from terrorism, insurgency, strife and fear were modern day shackles and prisons that can restrict the freedom of Dabawenyos.

Mayor Inday said being free meant that the current generation is enjoying, or being able to “boldly express (their) thoughts on social media.”

LGBTs, she added, can “openly declare their identity and women can now competitively aspire for any profession.”

“Embrace the gift of liberty. Embrace this right. Embrace this independence,” she said.

Mayor Inday said Dabawenyos should be vigilant in suppressing evil so they would remain free.

“Our modern day shackles and prisons in the form of terrorism, strife, fear, and insurgency, are things that we should continue to fight against in order to not render meaningless the triumphs of the years past,” she said.

She said Dabawenyos must be vigilant and to fight whatever that “imprisons you.”

“No matter where we come from, evil is a common enemy that we, in unity, should suppress,” she said. CIO
