More Cafgu to help secure Davao City

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said Wednesday she has expected the city to be more secure now with the graduation of 85 more Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) members under Task Force Davao.

Mayor Inday said part of their job is to make the city safe from terrorist attacks and that she knew they had to sacrifice a lot of things – including spending time with their families – to achieve this goal.

“Your role is very difficult,” the mayor said. “You have to stay under the sun, pouring rain, you may even skip your meals sometimes and sometimes you cannot sleep but you have to do it for our children, for your children, that they can reach their schools peacefully.”

She said the people of Davao also appreciated the Task Force Davao for making sure they live peacefully.

“In exchange for your lack of sleep and skipping some meals, every Dabawenyo can sleep soundly at night, and I want you to know that we appreciate what you do for our city,” she said.

The new Task Force Davao members will be deployed in the three major entry and exit points of the city as part of beefed up checkpoints operations.

Mayor Inday said that two more CAA companies, which will be formed soon, will also be deployed in the outskirts of the city to combat communist rebels.

She said the city government is finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement with the 10th Infantry Agila Division for the recruitment and training of the additional 640 CAAs, whose annual salary would total P54 million.

“Hopefully this investment in the two CAA companies will result in a more stable peace and order in Davao City, especially in the midtown area and related to NPA (New People’s Army) problem,” she said. CIO
