#KADAYAWAN2017: August 18 a special nonworking holiday in Davao
Malacanang has declared August 18, Friday, a nonworking holiday in Davao City — in time for the celebration of the 32nd Kadayawan sa Davao.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed proclamation No. 273 declaring the said day as Indigenous People’s Day — a special nonworking holiday.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao, be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation reads.
The 32nd Kadayawan festival will start on August 14 and will last until August 20.
Kadayawan is a celebration of a bountiful harvest and the unity among the 11 tribes of Davao. CIO
