New TF Davao Chief vows to keep Davao safe from terrorists
Newly-installed Task Force Davao commander, Col. Nolasco Mempin, assured Dabawenyos that he will continue to implement the existing strategies established by former TFD Chief, Col. Erwin Bernard Neri, to ensure the city’s safety from terrorists.
During Monday’s flag raising ceremony, Mempin was introduced to the employees of the city government.
“The mayor has given her guidance and expectations of me; as a good soldier, all I can say is ‘yes mam,’ I will comply with all of your instructions,” he said.
“I have studied the operational approach of Col. Neri in combatting terrorism here in Davao City and his programs resulted in the accomplishment of the mandated mission of the unit,” Mempin said.
He said past accomplishment showed that the TF Davao is “an effective and efficient anti-terrorist” unit, whose “operations dependent on timely and accurate information.”
Under his leadership, Mempin said the goal is to enhance the training of TFD personnel in combating terrorism, establishment of night fighting systems and protection of soldiers, and to regularly improve the skills of the soldiers. He also vowed to vigorously pursue stakeholders’ engagement.
“I assured the mayor and the city that the Task Force Davao under my watch will continue to support the local government unit,” he said.
Mempin is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Bigkis Lahi class of 1990 and graduated Top 8 in a class of 147. He started his military career in 1986 and has since been a recipient of numerous awards, including the military merit medal and distinguished service star, among others.
Prior to this assignment, Mempin was chief of the Governance and Strategy Management Office (GSMO) of the 10th Infantry Division and Battalion Commander of the 78th Infantry Battalion in Cebu City. CIO
