Mayor Inday Sara Duterte led the groundbreaking for the Pagkalinga para sa Bayan building inside the compound of the Southern Philippine Medical Center (SPMC).

The Pagkalinga para sa Bayan is Mayor Inday’s idea and was designed to cut the time, expenses, and effort of medical patients and their kin in seeking help.

It was designed as a one-stop shop for government services for medical assistance.

“To save time, effort and money, we put all the government services that will aid the medical needs of the Dabawenyos in one place, here in Pagkalinga para sa Bayan,” Mayor Inday said.

The Lingap Para sa Mahirap, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), PhilHealth, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, (PAGCOR) and the Social Funds of the Office of the President will all be relocated to the 3-storey building.

“I found out that the people kept on going to different places to seek financial and medical assistance. Through this, they do can save more time and money,” Mayor Inday said.

The P25 million budget for the 3-storey building was provided by the national government. Its construction will start in January 2018.

From February to October of this year, over 66, 000 patients were catered by the Lingap para sa Mahirap program of the city government alone. CIO
